Biography

Anita Hunter has been an esteemed full professor of nursing since 1985, most recently at Clemson University, University of San Diego, Washington State University, US University and Franklin University.

Anita’s professional career includes having her own practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. When she moved into academia, she has taught students across the degree programs and in 1996 began her journey into international nursing. For 22 years she took nursing students to Mexico, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Uganda, and Belfast Northern Ireland. Sustainable health programs were developed in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, and in Uganda. She served as the Medical Director for the NGO in San Diego who helped her develop, build, and train the health professionals in the only dedicated children’s hospital in the country (Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital, Mbarara, Uganda). Since retiring full-time, she has dedicated her time to part-time teaching online as she loves working with students.
