San Francisco Advantage
Connect With the Community
We work with organizations and communities around the San Francisco Bay Area to improve the quality of health care and to provide our students with hands-on clinical experience.
Academic-Practice Partnership with Kaiser Permanente
The University of San Francisco, School of Nursing and Health Professions (USF SONHP) and Kaiser Permanente’s Nurse Scholar Academy in Northern California (KP Nurse Scholars Academy NCAL) have had a long-standing relationship whereby many of the USF SONHP students have had successful clinical placements providing patient/family services from prevention and health promotion through to palliative care. On August 1, 2018, then Dean and Professor Margaret W. Baker was notified that the University of San Francisco, School of Nursing and Health Professions and KP Nurse Scholars Academy NCAL were selected to receive the 2018 AACN Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Award.
Engage San Francisco
Engage San Francisco is a transformative initiative that supports children, youth, and families in the Western Addition neighborhood through student learning, research, and teaching. As the city’s first university, we are uniquely situated to address issues related to the poverty and inequality in the Western Addition, and we do this work in partnership with residents and service providers to address a lack of access to high quality and affordable healthcare, housing, and education.
Veteran Affairs Nursing Partnership
School of Nursing and Health Professions students promote the safe and effective care of veterans with year-round clinical placements through the Department of Veteran Affairs Northern California Health Care System.
