Biography
Gary Michael Lose Cheshire, MBA, BSN, RN, CMSRN, is an experienced nurse educator and healthcare leader with expertise in medical-surgical, telemetry, progressive care, psychiatry, public health, day surgery, and community-based nursing. He began his nursing career after earning his Associate of Science in Nursing from the University of Alaska Anchorage (2016), followed by a BSN (2019) and MBA (2021) from Western Governors University. He is pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing with an expected graduation in 2026.
Gary is a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) and has held leadership roles as charge nurse, clinical educator, team leader, nursing manager, and interim assistant program director. He has taught across LVN, ADN, BSN, and graduate programs at Unitek College, Merritt College, Chabot College, California State University East Bay, and the University of San Francisco. His teaching portfolio encompasses fundamentals, medical-surgical nursing, psychiatric mental health nursing, public health, pathophysiology, clinical leadership, and healthcare finance.
A first-generation college graduate and LGBTQ+ advocate who grew up in foster care, Gary is dedicated to fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments. His academic and professional interests include nursing education innovation, healthcare finance, interprofessional collaboration, and quality improvement in patient care.
