Admissions Team Hosts Open House for Prospective Students

The University of San Francisco School of Business and Professional Studies held their Open House in the McLaren Conference center recently and presented Undergraduate and MBA programs to an eager audience of over 100 prospective students. Associate Dean Jennifer Camota Contrereas (MBA for Executives, 2005, alumna) welcomed the prospective students with a brief overview of the University's values, and an inspirational story that encouraged prospective students to look at the bigger picture of how higher education fit into their aspirations.

“Everyone was warm and welcoming,” said Jasmine Kaur, a prospective student interested in entering the USF School of Business and Professional Studies’ Undergraduate Program.

"I was very pleased with the turnout,” said Associate Director of Graduate Admissions Elisabeth Merkel.  “It’s so exciting to see people engage with our school as they look to advance themselves professionally and personally."

Pat Saxman, MBA for Executives 2010 alumnus, and currently Services Account Manager at General Electric Healthcare, was the guest speaker at the event.  Pat provided a picture of what it was like to go back to school while working full time and the impact to work-life balance.  He also talked about the numerous benefits of going back to school, highlighting the deep relationships with other students in his cohort as well as the with the faculty.
 
After opening remarks, the students broke into sessions where they were given the opportunity to be introduced to various programs that the school has to offer, including: the Business Economics program (MSBE), Information Systems program, joint Masters in Global Entrepreneurship and Management program (jMGEM), MBA Programs, and Masters degree programs in Nonprofit Administration, Organization Development, Organizational Behavior and Leadership, and Public Administration.

“This is such a great place,” Ms. Merkel added, “and it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to showcase our programs, faculty, alumni, students, and staff.”

The Open House concluded with a tour of the campus and a brief introduction to the over 150 years of history that USF embodies.

“For those who were not able to attend this Open House, we have already begun planning our Spring Open House for sometime in February or March.  Stay tuned.”
