Dr. Charles T. Moses Named Interim Dean of the University of San Francisco School of Management
SAN FRANCISCO (August 13, 2019) – The University of San Francisco has announced that distinguished higher education executive Dr. Charles T. Moses has assumed the role of interim dean of the School of Management. His appointment was effective August 1.
Dr. Moses is the former director of the Accelerated Management Program at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was interim dean of the College of Business Administration at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee, and dean of the College of Business Administration at Clark Atlanta University in Georgia. Dr. Moses holds a doctorate of management degree from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Zicklin School of Business at the City University of New York, and a BS in psychology from Howard University.
“Dr. Moses’s wide-ranging experience - in academia, public policy, and the media - gives him valuable perspectives on higher education leadership,” said Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Don Heller. “I have great confidence that Dr. Moses will work effectively over the course of the year with the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the school to help continue the progress it has made in recent years.”
In 1996, South African President Nelson Mandela recruited Dr. Moses to be the founding dean of Edupark, a graduate business school affiliated with the University of Limpopo in Polokwane, South Africa. While in South Africa, Dr. Moses worked as a consultant in the areas of change management and trade, served as a principal with Deloitte and Touche, and was a managing director of Labat Africa (LAB), a consulting and holding company.

Before his career in academia, Dr. Moses began his professional career as a journalist, working as an award-winning business reporter and editor for Newsday and the Rochester Times-Union newspaper in New York. He launched his career in government by becoming the executive director of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo’s Advisory Committee for Black Affairs, and as the deputy press secretary in the Office of the Comptroller of New York City.
He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a Fulbright Fellowship, a Mellon Fellowship, a Kettering Foundation Public Scholar designation, and a Mandel Fellowship from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
