Dr. Eileen K. Fry-Bowers, Dean of the University of San Francisco School of Nursing and Health Professions, Joins the California Association of Colleges of Nursing Board of Directors as Chair of the Policy Committee
SAN FRANCISCO (August 1, 2023) – Eileen K. Fry-Bowers, PhD, JD, RN, CPNP, FAAN,
dean of the University of San Francisco (USF) School of Nursing and Health Professions, was recently elected to the California Association of Colleges of Nursing (CACN) Board of Directors as chair of the Policy Committee, bringing her leadership and experience to CACN, particularly public advocacy and informing policymakers and health care stakeholders.
CACN’s goals include:
- Increasing the number of baccalaureates, masters and doctorally prepared nurses in California
- Improving nursing education through public advocacy and academic nurse leadership
- Informing policymakers and health care stakeholders regarding the current state of nursing education, research, trends, and issues
- Facilitating ongoing and effective communication and networking
- Developing and mentoring the next generation of academic nurse leaders
“I am pleased and honored to join the CACN Policy Committee to focus on public advocacy to meet the nursing education demands for current and future generations,” stated Dr. Fry-Bowers. “Nursing education is changing its focus from merely delivering healthcare to developing health and eliminating health inequities. It recognizes that nurses need to be equipped with the necessary skills to provide care tailored to the unique needs of different individuals and communities.”
