Emerald Leiataua Helps Local Special Olympic Staff put on Regional Events
Four months ago, Emerald Leiataua had just begun her first class in the University of San Francisco Sport Management Master’s Program, as a member of Cohort 16S at our Southern California campus. This past November 15th, she executed the planning, design, and implementation of the Olympic Village for the SoCal, LA, and San Gabriel Special Olympics Regional Fall Games. As the program and development intern, Emerald works with local Special Olympics staff to put on such events. But she does not only interact with internal staff.
This particular event featured several sponsors and organizations engaging the athletes in Emerald’s prepared space, including the Los Angeles Sparks, Los Angeles Galaxy, KIND Snacks, Pet Partners, and others. Alana Beard, a guard/forward with the Sparks and the number two overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft, gladly dropped by Emerald’s hosting booth for a picture.
