Progressive Lawyering Day to Feature Attorney Who Argued Same-Sex Marriage Case

"Therese Stewart was chosen because she played an important role in winning the right for gay and lesbian couples to marry in California, and because she is someone who stepped out of private practice to donate her talents to the civil service without giving up any of her tenacity," said Andrew Younkins 3L.

The symposium will also feature panels and workshops on immigrants' rights, juvenile justice, sex worker rights, and violence against women.

The event is sponsored by USF, the Bay Area chapter of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), and the Bay Area Law Foundation. It is free and open to the public. Continuing legal education credit will be offered for a suggested donation of $20 to $60, which will support student travel stipends for the national NLG convention.
