The Thacher Gallery at the University of San Francisco Presents The State of Being: Before, During, and After – the 24th Thacher Art + Architecture Annual

The collection of works by 48 students is on display May 5 - June 30, 2023

SAN FRANCISCO (May 5, 2023) – The Thacher Gallery at the University of San Francisco (USF) presents The State of Being: Before, During, and After – the 24th Thacher Art + Architecture Annual from May 5 - June 30, 2023 in the Thacher Gallery on the USF campus. In ‘The State of Being’, artists explore the different vantage points of change. 

Featuring juniors and seniors from USF’s Department of Art + Architecture, this juried exhibition includes fine art, design, and architecture. This collection of works by 48 student artists and designers questions how our identities and histories can shape our perception, and how individuals and the collective find understanding amidst change.

The collection was organized by students in USF’s Thacher Practicum, taught by Lexygius Sanchez Calip. Jurors included Bay Area artist Alexander Hernandez, designer and illustrator Helen Shewolfe Tseng, and Lian Ladia, Curator for Exhibitions and Programs for 500 Capp Street.

About the Thacher Gallery at the University of San Francisco

The Thacher Gallery is a public art gallery in the University of San Francisco’s Gleeson Library where creativity, scholarship, and community converge. The gallery is free and open to the public 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. daily. Appointments are required for the sculpture terrace.
