University of San Francisco Announces Plans for Primarily In-Person Instruction Beginning in Fall 2021

SAN FRANCISCO (January 14, 2021) – The University of San Francisco (USF) has announced its intention to return to primarily in-person instruction starting in fall 2021.

To open safely this fall, the University is building upon current testing procedures, contact tracing protocols, and safety measures including face coverings, social distancing and hygiene practices, in addition to working closely with local public health officials and other experts. Classes and residence halls have been set up to best protect students, faculty and staff. Campus operations teams will continue to plan ahead and prepare to adjust these plans as necessary.

“We have learned a great deal in the past 10 months,” stated USF President Rev. Paul J. Fitzgerald, S.J. “While we cannot predict with certainty what USF will look like in the months ahead, we have made carefully informed plans, and, most importantly, we will remain vigilant in all prevention efforts. We will continue to prioritize the health and well-being of all members of the USF community.”

If the course of COVID-19, including vaccine availability, changes, or if public health guidance requires a change to these fall plans, Fr. Fitzgerald said the University will quickly adjust and communicate plans as early as possible so students, families, faculty and staff are able to make informed decisions about studying and working on campus.
