The University of San Francisco’s Silk Speaker Series Welcomes Dr. Clarence B. Jones and Sterling K. Brown on February 6
SAN FRANCISCO (January 26, 2024) – The Silk Speaker Series at the University of San Francisco (USF), in partnership with the USF Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice, will present ‘Leadership and Legacy: An Evening with Dr. Clarence B. Jones and Sterling K. Brown’ on Tuesday, February 6 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sobrato Center on the USF campus. The event is open to the public, and registration is required.
Sterling K. Brown, Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning actor, will take to the stage with Dr. Clarence B. Jones, former lawyer, political advisor and draft speechwriter for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and co-founder and director emeritus of the USF Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice. The two will discuss Dr. Jones’ book, Last of the Lions: An African American Journey in Memoir, and their personal journeys in social justice advocacy.
Funded by a transformational gift to USF by investment expert Jeff Silk ’87 and his wife, Naomi, the Silk Speaker Series at the University of San Francisco brings international thought leaders in business, finance and global issues to USF students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university. Now in its eighth year, the Silk Speaker Series has featured speakers including Robin Roberts of Good Morning America, NBA star Stephen Curry and Head Coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors, actor, writer and producer Kal Penn, soccer champion and equality activist Megan Rapinoe, tennis legend and equality champion Billie Jean King, 66th Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, NBA great Earvin “Magic” Johnson Jr., and Former Chair of the Federal Reserve and current United States Treasury Secretary Dr. Janet L. Yellen.
