Kayla Tabari's interest in biomedical ethics stems from her childhood — the death of her khonjoon (‘dear grandmother’, in Farsi) sparked her interest in bioethics when she was a young girl, years before she had even heard of the field.

I have a bachelor's degree in Business Economics from UC Irvine, and while I do love and appreciate my current job, a couple of years ago I had this feeling I wanted to do more. I work in higher education administration advising students to pursue health profession graduate programs, including nursing. Through this process, I got inspired to explore if my advice to students could potentially be a path for me.

I never intended on becoming a clinical psychologist. I never intended on working in the psychological field. And I originally had no intention of attending the University of San Francisco or applying to one of its doctoral programs.
