Programs
With so many programs to choose from, finding the right program can be a somewhat overwhelming task. We urge you to plan ahead and assess your situation. Start a conversation with family members, friends, faculty, study abroad alumni, and staff at the Center for Global Education.
Sponsored Programs
Explore more than 100 programs at leading universities worldwide partnered with USF. Pay USF tuition, not the host program tuition. All classes and credits you take abroad count on your USF transcript. You can still use your USF financial aid, grants, and scholarships, as well as federal and state aid, just like a regular semester at USF.
Field Study Programs
Learn outside the classroom. Immerse yourself in real-world environments. Conduct fieldwork, take intensive language classes, and live with local families. Join a small group of students supported by faculty and staff, homestay families, in-country experts, and community members.

Conduct Fieldwork in Panama
Being in such a biodiverse place has really been incredible. There’s so much happening here right outside my front door. We’ve seen poison dart frogs, sharks, stingrays, plenty of parrots and a variety of insects.”

Internship Programs
Gain cross-cultural skills with an internship abroad. Some USF sponsored programs offer internship opportunities as part of the regular course workload. Internships are unpaid and placement depends on specific qualifications. Internship requirements and fields vary from program to program.
Global Immersions
USF's global immersions are short-term programs, open to all students (freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors). All credits (where applicable) count toward graduation. Some of the programs require special applications and registration for a specific course. All programs can only accommodate a limited number of students and priority is given to early applicants.

If anyone has the chance to take an immersion trip, I highly recommend it because it exposes you to so much life that you would never see if you stayed in your home.”

External Programs
External programs include all other study abroad opportunities via other U.S. universities, colleges, or third-party providers. Participants of external programs cannot transfer their grades to USF and cannot use financial aid. Pre-approved units will transfer back to USF to count towards degree requirements, but courses will not be listed on the USF transcript. Tuition, housing, and any other fees are paid directly to external providers and students are required to complete a Leave of Absence from USF.
Federal, State, or USF Financial Aid will not be awarded by USF while student is on a Leave of Absence, but some private loan options may be available. Private loans cannot be processed through USF. For financial aid questions regarding external programs, please contact Student Enrollment Services Office to speak with a USF Financial Aid counselor. Visit the Center for Global Education for materials and advice on deciding which external program might be best for you.
