Mental Health Talent Pipeline (MHTP) Scholarship

The Healthcare Foundation of Northern Sonoma County and USF’s School of Education are working together to ensure mental healthcare for Spanish speakers is available in northern Sonoma County.

To be eligible for scholarship consideration:  

  • you must be admitted into the USF Santa Rosa MA in Counseling Psychology, MFT program,  
  • be a resident of Sonoma County,  
  • submit a FAFSA or California Dream Act Form,  
  • and be a fluent Spanish speaker.

Preference consideration is given to students living in or near the towns of Cloverdale, Asti, Geyserville, Simi, Healdsburg, Windsor and northern Santa Rosa along the Hwy. 101 corridor and who can provide counseling services in northern Sonoma County during traineeship and for two years after graduation at an approved site.  

How to Apply

  • Register and attend a MFT information meeting for the Santa Rosa location. 
  • Add one sentence to the bottom of your  Statement of Intent identifying yourself as a fluent Spanish speaker and that you want to be considered for the MHTP scholarship.  
  • Submit a complete application, including all documents and the FAFSA or CA Dream Act form before May 31, 2026. USF’s school code is 001325. 

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated based on the totality of their application, group interview, geographic location, and financial need. If you meet the criteria, please begin your application well before the May 31 deadline to ensure there is time to complete the group interview before the awards are made.
