Dave Ulrich
Adjunct Professor
Biography
As an education major at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Dave made an unexpected pivot to theatre. While earning his degree, he acted as both a professional and a student on KC stages—earning a Drama Desk award nomination. After moving to Prague to teach and perform, he took up playwriting. Upon returning to the USA, he performed in several midwestern productions before moving to Los Angeles. There he penned nearly a hundred short plays for multiple theater companies, published two full-length produced plays and signed with Gersh where he wrote spec scripts until he made another pivot into advertising.
Dave has remained in the ad world for over twenty years as a copywriter and creative director for various agencies. He also served as an occasional instructor at Art Center College in Pasadena. He has created work for iconic brands like McDonald’s, Toyota, Apple, Google, Twitter, Subaru, Disney, Netflix, and many others.
