Emma Elizalde

Biography
Emma Elizalde is an Adjunct Professor in Learning and Instruction (L&I) Program at the University of San Francisco. Her research focuses on teacher knowledge of dyslexia and structured literacy. Being dyslexic herself has motivated Dr. Elizalde to learn how to teach student with dyslexia. This has then lead to her interest in understanding what teachers today know about dyslexia and structured literacy. Dr. Elizalde has made it one of her goals to teach teachers how to support students with dyslexia because everyone has the right to read.
Along with working at USF, Dr. Elizalde is the Middle School Director of Learning and Instruction at North Bridge Academy and is a Certified Slingerland Instructor of Teachers (CSIT). Prior to her role at North Bridge, she was a Learning and Reading Specialist at Town School for Boys.
