Luis Enrique Bazan

Luis Enrique “Kique” Bazan is a longtime advocate for justice with years of experience working with human rights and advocacy organizations. Originally from Lima, Peru, Kique earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the Pontifical Catholic University in Lima, a master’s in theology and religious studies, and a doctorate in organization and leadership from USF. He spends most of his time being a staff member for the Office of International Initiatives and University Ministry connecting with people and global community-based organizations that focus on issues related to migration, children’s rights, leadership, and peace and reconciliation.

Luis Enrique’s latest publication is called La Formación del Entumecimiento: ensayo sobre los dispositivos de control del sujeto social [The Formation of Numbness: an essay on the control devices of the social subject] where he reflects on his experience of community-based work from a critical hermeneutics’ perspective. In this work, he analyzes the challenge of supporting the undocumented community in the Bay Area during the Trump administration.
