Biography
After working in industry as a video technology researcher and executive for 25+ years, Paul changed careers to teaching. He has been teaching Computer Science at the University of San Francisco since 2022.
Previously, Paul and his team at Harmonic, Inc. were responsible for development of the first professional variable bit-rate HEVC video encoder, which shipped in 2014, and the first variable bit-rate AVC video encoder, which shipped in 2005. Paul's team earned several Technical Emmy awards. In 2015, Paul received a Technical Emmy award for his work on variable bit-rate video delivery over IP networks.
