Rhiannon MacFadyen

Rhiannon Evans MacFadyen (they/she) is a curator, consultant, facilitator, and project-based artist, born and based in San Francisco. With a decades-long background in the performing and visual arts, Rhiannon is deeply influenced by their own—and their communities’—intersectional identities. Driven by the pursuit of “productive discomfort,” and anchored in practices in equity, experimentation, and consistent incremental improvements, their curatorial focus is on projects that push boundaries of scale, scope, medium, venue, and dialogue, and her cross-discipline personal work engages symbols, ritual, identity, communication, and the unseen. Actively involved with community-building through the arts, Rhiannon is Co-Director of Emerging Arts Professionals San Francisco Bay Area, Founder/Director of Black & White Projects, is currently on the Curatorial Committee for Root Division, and has served as President of the Board of SOMArts Cultural Center, on the Leadership Committee for the San Francisco Racial Equity in the Arts Working Group, among others. Rhiannon has curated exhibitions in New York and across the Bay Area; has been exhibited at Adobe Books Gallery, Radian Gallery, USF’s Thacher Gallery, The Growlery, Root Division, YBCA, JCCSF, SOMArts Cultural Center, among others; has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Magazine, SF Weekly, KQED, The New Asterisk Magazine, SFArts, and Art Practical, Emerge Magazine, and Notes from MoAD; and encourages small, joyful, radical acts of creativity and anti-imperialism daily.
