Biography

Stephanie Vandrick teaches in the AEM Program in the Department of Rhetoric and Language. Professor Vandrick received a double MA in English Literature and TESOL from Michigan State University in 1974, and has been teaching at USF since that time. She specializes in second language reading and writing classes. She has also taught women's literature classes in the English Department, as well as Freshman Seminars and other classes in women's studies. She is a frequent presenter at various TESOL, applied linguistics, and second language education conferences. As part of her interest in literature, she writes a blog on books and reading. She was a recipient of the Frank Beach College Service Award in 2002.

Her publications include three books: Interrogating privilege: Reflections of a Second Language Educator (University of Michigan Press, 2009); Writing for Scholarly Publication: Behind the Scenes in Language Education (Erlbaum, 2003) (co-edited with Christine Pearson Casanave); and Ethical Issues for AEM Faculty: Social Justice in Practice (Erlbaum, 2002) (co-authored with Johnnie Johnson Hafernik and Dorothy S. Messerschmitt), as well as numerous articles and book chapters.
