Tika Lamsal

Tika Lamsal earned his PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from University of Louisville. He teaches courses on rhetoric and composition, cross-cultural communication, and global rhetorics in both Rhetoric and Language Department and MA in Professional Communication Program. Through the lens of critical ethnography, his research examines the intersection of linguistic, cultural, and multimodal literacies of Bhutanese refugees in U.S. contexts to demonstrate how the refugees negotiate their ways to academic, cultural, and economic transition by using their linguistic and cultural repertoires in the new locale of their migration.

His other research areas include digital and translingual composition, non-Western rhetorics, and multilingual writing. In addition to his contribution as an author for a collaborative book, Business Communication: Theory and Practice, and an editor for Nepal, a Shangri-La? Narratives of Culture, Contact and Memory, his work has appeared in JAC: Journal of Advanced Composition; Journal of Global Literacies, Technologies, and Emerging Pedagogies; and Bodhi: An Interdisciplinary Journal. Along with his teaching and research, he also occasionally writes poems, short stories, and articles in both English and Nepali. When he is not teaching and field working, Tika loves to sing, hike, and practice yoga and meditation.
