Jerome A. Hawkins

Adjunct Professor Jerome A. Hawkins is a trial lawyer and civil litigator at Hawkins Injury Law based in Solano County, California. His firm works with the seriously injured and those who have had their civil rights violated to help them successfully obtain justice for the harms they have endured.

Prior to law school, Jerome spent a number of years studying and working as a professional theater and film actor. During this phase of his life, he learned the power and importance of storytelling, and cultivated a unique skill set that would ultimately prepare him for a career as an effective trial advocate.

While at USF, Professor Hawkins took extensive coursework in trial advocacy, civil litigation, and legal research to prepare to become a trial lawyer. In the summer after his 1L year, he participated in USF's Intensive Advocacy Program and was awarded the McFetridge Excellence in Advocacy Award. Later on, Professor Hawkins was selected and competed on the law school’s National Criminal Trial Advocacy Competition team.

Professor Hawkins cares greatly about the personal and professional success of USF’s law students. In keeping with that, he joined the law school’s faculty to help design and co-teach “The 7 Habits of Highly Successful Lawyers.” Each week, the course takes a deep, interactive dive into one of the habits, teaches students how to cultivate the habit, and provides real-world examples of how the habit can aid a practicing lawyer in achieving success.
