Shawn Halbert

Biography
Shawn Halbert has practiced criminal defense for most of her career, primarily in federal court. She worked at the Federal Public Defender's Office (N.D. Cal.) for many years, and since that time has continued to represent people who cannot afford to hire an attorney, through the Criminal Justice Act Panel. Shawn has represented clients charged with crimes including murder, racketeering enterprise conspiracies, terrorism, firearms and narcotics trafficking, immigration law violations, health care and wire fraud, and money laundering, and has tried over twenty cases in the Northern District of California. During her career, Shawn has lectured nationally on topics relating to criminal defense and served on a number of Ninth Circuit and Northern District of California committees, including one that brought the first Reentry Court to the district.
