Erasmus Community
The Erasmus LLC is on hold currently and is not accepting applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. We invite you to check back next fall for future plans for the 2025-2026 school year.
Erasmus is a year-long course designed to bring together second and third-year students from various undergraduate majors at USF in a shared learning environment, with the option for community living.
Explore Yearly Themes
Explore themes like Conflict and Reconciliation where you will study the psychological, structural, political, and social causes of conflict and its impacts on a variety of communities both in the Bay Area and beyond. In a previous year, we delved into the background of the conflict in Northern Ireland to prepare us for a 10-day immersion trip to Belfast and Derry, Northern Ireland. We asked questions such as: How do we resolve conflict? What kinds of psychological, cultural, and political changes are needed in order to create peace? We learned theoretical information from the classroom experience, discussed the material as a community, and directly applied information and ideas through various community-based research projects.
Live Together as a Community
Successful applicants may choose to live in the designated space for Erasmus in the Toler Residence Hall or opt to live elsewhere on or off-campus. You must be enrolled in both Fall and Spring semesters of the course in order to live on campus.

Take an Immersion Trip
Our tour guide in Ireland teared up talking about the U.S. diplomats helping to end the decades-long conflict there. That got my gears turning as far as the impact the U.S. can have at home and abroad. I recognized that the U.S. does have a role in changing people’s lives — and it doesn’t have to be with war."
