Equipped to Lead and Succeed

Meet Rohit Dalvi ’26

Dean's Scholarship Recipient

Where are you from and what is your background?
I am from India, where I completed my undergraduate studies in Computer Engineering at the University of Pune. Growing up in Pune, a city known for its vibrant tech scene and educational institutions, I was always drawn to the world of technology. My fascination with computers began early, leading me to explore programming in high school, and this passion only grew as I pursued my engineering degree. During my undergraduate years, I had the privilege of interning as a Software Engineer at Mercedes-Benz, an experience that significantly broadened my understanding of software systems and engineering practices. After completing my degree, I joined VAMS Global as a Software Engineer, where I worked on critical projects with some renowned clients in the industry. At university, Google appointed me as the Lead of the Google Developer Student Club, where I hosted Google sponsored tech events and initiated the "Women-in-Tech" program to foster inclusivity. These experiences shaped my decision to further my studies in the U.S., and ultimately led me to pursue my MS in Computer Science at USF.

Why did you apply for this graduate program and decide to study at USF?
I chose to pursue an MS in Computer Science at USF because of the university's commitment to diversity and innovation. When I learned about the vibrant tech community in San Francisco, I knew this was the place where I could merge my professional aspirations with my passion for making a positive impact. I was particularly drawn to the diverse course offerings and the chance to work under distinguished faculty. The support and resources available at USF are unparalleled, and being here has provided me with a sense of purpose and belonging.

What are your career ambitions?
I aspire to work as a Software Engineer in a leading tech firm where I can leverage my skills to contribute to projects that improve people's lives and contribute to making the world a better place. The education and experiences I’m gaining at USF are laying the groundwork for me to achieve these goals, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.
