It’s time to review the year in stories at the University of San Francisco. These are 2022’s most read USF News stories by students, alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff, starting with the No. 1 article:
- USF Buys Blood Bank, Expands to the East. USF has bought the property at 250/270 Masonic Avenue, the building formerly known as Blood Centers of the Pacific, after 10 years of discussions with the nonprofit that owned it. The new property adds 1.5 acres to the Hilltop campus.
- U.S. News & World Report Again Ranks USF a Top University, followed closely by USF Makes Princeton Review’s 2023 Top Colleges List. In the U.S. News & World Report 2023 rankings, USF places No. 2 in the nation for student ethnic diversity, No. 39 in undergraduate nursing, and No. 105 overall.

- Bill Russell’s Legacy is Bigger Than Basketball. Bill Russell’s most lasting triumph may have been off the court, after he joined Black teammates boycotting a 1961 Celtics game, says five-time NBA champion Bill Cartwright '79, MSOD '98. Russell, who led USF to back-to-back national championships, died July 31.

- Students From Japan Explore the World at USF. Ten students from the University of Tokyo became public health students at USF for a week in September. - Students Launch Black Education Journal. When Brian Anthony Davis, T. Gertrude Jenkins, Eghosa Obaizamomwan-Hamilton, Noah Morton, and Andre Carter went looking last year for an educational journal that spoke from beyond the ivory tower on Black education, they couldn’t find one. So they created their own.
