Alumna's Artworks Appear at SFMOMA

Pacita Abad

Art was the conduit through which Pacita Abad LMA ’72 advocated for marginalized people. Arriving in San Francisco from the Philippines in 1970, she fell in love with art as a graduate history student at Lone Mountain College, now part of USF, where she also worked as the school’s cultural affairs coordinator. Later, Abad traveled to more than 60 countries, learning from the artists she met. She died in 2004. Earlier this year, her masks, paintings, and abstract compositions were part of an exhibit at SFMOMA.
