De Marillac Academy Student Artists Enrich the USF School of Education
The School of Education looked better than ever this year thanks to student artwork on loan from De Marillac Academy in San Francisco.
The artists, 4th-8th grade students, contributed beautiful pieces that were displayed throughout the building and cultivated a welcome and celebratory atmosphere in the School of Education. The year culminated in a field trip when the artists visited USF to see their art exhibited.
Students roamed the halls and saw their creations mounted and placed behind thick glass. Each piece also came complete with the students' names, grade level, type of artwork (e.g. African masks) and the materials used. The work ranged from radial designs to a stylized display of the Hamsa prayer surrounded by hands with eyes on the palms: the Hamsa Hand, an ancient Middle Eastern amulet that symbolizes the hand of God.
