USF’s School of Management Hosts Future of Business Education Centennial Retreat
On Jan 16, the University of San Francisco School of Management hosted an all-day centennial retreat featuring three high-profile panels focused on the future of business education. More than 120 faculty, staff, students, alumni, trustees, and Dean's Circle Advisory Board members participated in the discussion.
“Our centennial retreat was a day of inspiration, optimism, and fellowship,” said Otgo Erhemjamts, dean of the School of Management. “I am grateful to all the panelists and attendees for their active participation and insights, to our Interim President John P. Fitzgibbons, S.J. for his opening speech and a prayer, and all of the faculty and staff who worked tirelessly on the program and for moderating the panels, managing the logistics.”
Future of Jobs and Future of Business Education
Ben Lytle, former CEO of two Fortune 500 companies, serial entrepreneur, author, and a futurist; Jeff Merritt, head of Urban Transformation Center at the World Economic Forum; and Robert Kilcullen, managing director, Advisory Group, MUFG and Dean's Circle Member.
Sustainability and Climate Change, Implications for Business Education
Cynthia Wu, CEO and co-founder, of Taro AI, and winner in the Yes SF Urban Sustainability Challenge; Jens Peers, CFA, chief investment officer of Mirova US and Dean's Circle Member; and David Szymanski, professor of geology at Bentley University and director of NSF-BASICS.
AI and Emerging Technologies, Implications for Business Education
Shomit Ghose, Silicon Valley venture capitalist, former CEO and board member at Truviso; and School of Management adjunct professor; Sunny Bedi, chief investment officer and chief development officer at Snowflake and former Dean's Circle Member; and Christina Augustine, chief operating officer at Bloomreach; former manager at Bain & Co., and an AI angel investor.
The retreat then concluded with three concurrent sessions: Dean’s Circle Advisory Board Winter meeting, Curriculum Development Workshop for Faculty, and Student Experience and Team Building Workshop for Staff.
