Flexible Evening & Weekend Schedules
Classes are offered Monday-Thursday evenings from 4:45-7:15pm to accommodate school schedules. Some master's programs may hold some classes on Saturdays. Full-time students who plan to finish their credential in three semesters attend class on Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs during their first two semesters. Part-time schedules are also available.
Candidates do two semesters of student teaching in a student teaching placement provided by our program – an initial part-time placement that requires two days a week at the assigned school site; a second full-time placement that requires five days a week at the site. During that time they are mentored by the host cooperating teacher and observed by a university supervisor who offers feedback and coaching. Concurrent student teaching seminars provide support for completing the California Teaching Performance Assessments as well as reflecting on teaching experiences.
Candidates begin their master's degree courses towards the end of their credential coursework. Each master's degree program has unique coursework, schedule, and number of units relevant to their focus.
