Joshua McDermott has been working in the Bay Area as a Designer and Technical Director since 2005 and joined the Performing Arts Department at the University of San Francisco in 2010, where he founded and directs the Tech and Design Certificate program.

Dr. McDermott is an Assistant Professor in the Population Health Sciences Department. She received a BA in Religious Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, an MA in Health Policy and Bioethics from George Washington University and a PhD in Health Services Research from University of Washington.
