The Northern Sonoma County Mental Health Talent Pipeline Scholarship 2025
USF’s School of Education in partnership with the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Sonoma County is pleased to offer three scholarship opportunities for Spanish speakers who agree to provide mental health services in northern Sonoma County. The scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition cost of enrollment in the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program offered at the USF Santa Rosa location.
Preference considerations are given to students living in or near the towns of Cloverdale, Asti, Geyserville, Simi, Healdsburg, Windsor and northern Santa Rosa along the Hwy. 101 corridor and to students who intend to provide mental health services in northern Sonoma County during traineeship and for at least two years after graduation at an approved site. Additionally, financial need is taken into consideration. Applicants must submit a 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before or at the time of application. USF’s school code is 001325. If a student is ineligible for the FAFSA, let us know by emailing the reason to santarosaprograms@usfca.edu. USF will assess financial eligibility by alternate means.
Only fully admitted applicants will be considered for the scholarship. We allow a lot of flexibility in terms of continuing to admit students until the program fills. However, don’t confuse that flexibility with the scholarship deadlines. Scholarship candidates are advised to submit complete applications before the deadlines provided below. To ensure adequate time for obtaining all documents, reviewing of the application and subsequent group interview, and USF’s processing of financial aid following an admission decision, plan on submitting the application well before the deadline.
For scholarship consideration, applicants must:
- Submit a complete MFT application for the Santa Rosa location, including all documents, by June 15, 2025.
- Have a current 2025-2026 FAFSA on file, have applied to, been interviewed, and admitted to the MA in Counseling Psychology, MFT program no later than July 1, 2025.
- When applying add to the end of their Statement of Intent that they are a Spanish speaker who would like to be considered for the Northern Sonoma County Mental Health Talent Pipeline Scholarship.
It is highly recommended that applicants attend a virtual MFT program information meeting for the Santa Rosa program. Find meeting dates ».
