3+3 BA/BS-JD Program

Through our 3+3 BA or BS/JD program, you can earn your bachelor’s degree and finish law school in only six years (one year less than the traditional path).

In this program, students begin their freshman year at USF and complete three years of Bachelor’s degree coursework, and then transition into three years of law school, saving two semesters (one academic year) of undergraduate tuition and classes. You’ll graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in your fourth year, and already have one year of law school under your belt. The academically rigorous curriculum puts you on the job market faster while gaining the broad skills and specialized experience your career demands.

How to Qualify

  1. Contact Tonya Miller (miller@usfca.edu) to review your major academic planner.
  2. Add the 3+3 “Special Program” to your transcript by completing the Change of Academic Program Form by the end of your first semester at USF.
  3. Submit your application for law school by February 1 of your third year. The application fee for USF Law will be waived for applicants for the 3+3 program.
  4. Earn an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5.
  5. Achieve an LSAT score equal to, or greater than, the law school’s first-year class median from the prior year (for Fall 2024 admitted applicants, the median LSAT score was 154).

Successful applicants will receive a renewable scholarship of at least $40,000 per year. All scholarships awarded through the 3+3 program are subject to the School of Law’s standards for renewal.

Review Process

In addition to the minimum GPA and LSAT score, all applications will be reviewed by the Law School Admissions Committee to ensure there are no character and fitness issues that would prevent admission to the bar.

Students who do not meet the undergraduate GPA requirement of 3.5 and/or the LSAT score requirement may still apply to law school and will be considered by the Admissions Committee through their holistic review process.
