Amanda Parris joined the USF Philosophy department in 2013; she teaches Problems in Democracy, Existentialism, and Ethics. Her research interests lie at the intersection of seventeenth-century philosophy (especially Spinoza), contemporary political philosophy, and the prose fiction of Beckett, Bernhard, Sebald, and McCarthy.

Her research specialization is in the areas of economic development, agricultural economics, supply chain management, and lately, health economics. Dr. Patlolla’s current projects focus on measuring the impact of agricultural income support programs in India and evaluating the economic viability of breakthrough health care products.

Akshay joined as an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering during fall 2022. He is passionate about teaching complex engineering concepts in a manner that strengthens foundations, builds intuition, and is easily accessible to all students, without compromising on rigor or depth. At USF, Akshay will work on teaching and developing courses in physics and mathematics aimed at all engineering students, and courses in the electrical engineering concentration.
